Why the comparison is the point
The ranking is not the same in both tiers. At batch list prices, Voxtral Mini Transcribe 3 is cheapest at $0.0035/min. At streaming list prices, Deepgram Nova-3 (streaming, mono) is cheapest at $0.0048/min; Voxtral Mini Transcribe Realtime 3 is $0.0080/min.
That is a price fact, not a recommendation. We do not adjust for accuracy, latency or features — you know your workload better than a single score. We only make sure the units line up: $/hour, $/minute and $/million characters are all converted in code, never by hand.
Whisper self-hosting has no API fee, so it is shown separately and never gets the cheapest badge: GPU and engineering costs are real, just not on a price list.

How much does Voxtral 3 cost per minute of audio?
Voxtral Mini Transcribe 3 is $0.0035 per audio minute ($0.21/hr), Voxtral Small Transcribe 3 is $0.0040 per minute, and Voxtral Mini Transcribe Realtime 3 is $0.0080 per minute. Where the official table lists a cached input rate, the calculator stores that number per model; eligibility is not documented.
Is Voxtral cheaper than Deepgram or ElevenLabs?
At the verified list prices on this page: batch cheapest is Voxtral Mini Transcribe 3 at $0.0035/min (Voxtral Mini $0.0035/min; Deepgram Nova-3 pre-recorded $0.0043/min; ElevenLabs Scribe v2 $0.0037/min / $0.22/hr). Streaming cheapest is Deepgram Nova-3 (streaming, mono) at $0.0048/min (Voxtral Realtime $0.0080/min; Scribe v2 Realtime $0.0065/min; Deepgram streaming $0.0048/min). Use the calculator with your own minutes for the crossover.
Does the Voice Agent price include speech-to-text and text-to-speech?
Mistral describes the Voice Agent API as a bundled listen + think + speak price per call minute: $0.0400/min with Mistral Small 4 for reasoning, $0.0800/min with a larger model. Telephony, silence handling and overlap with separately billed STT/TTS are not documented on the pricing page, so we do not claim the bundled price equals a DIY stack. The Agent tab shows a rough DIY estimate with that caveat attached.
How often are prices updated?
Official Mistral prices were verified 2026-10-25; competitor list prices were verified 2026-10-25. Voxtral 3 is in public preview, so numbers can move. The header always shows the verification date, and the price-alert form emails you only when a number in this calculator changes.
Method & limits
- Monthly estimates multiply daily usage by 30. That is a convention, not an official billing rule.
- Mistral figures are Standard list prices. Batch and Priority tiers are not modelled; confirm them in the official console.
- Competitor figures are pay-as-you-go list prices; subscription and Growth tiers can differ.
- Excluded: telephony, SIP, taxes, retries, silence, minimum billable durations and any enterprise discount.
- Same-tier comparison only. Batch is never ranked against streaming, and no quality adjustment is applied.
- Every row links to the source page we read. If a number looks wrong, report it — a human updates the JSON and redeploys.
